When on holiday, we're often surprised at how even the most stylish guys we've seen knocking back a negroni at the hotel bar the night before will put very little effort into their poolside attire the next morning. However, one man you wouldn't expect to see in washed-out, misshapen swimshorts is David Gandy - not only because he is Britain's foremost male model, but also because he's got damn good personal style. So it's no surprise that Marks and Spencer has taken the opportunity to tap him for a new beachwear extension of its high-end Autograph line.

The new 10-piece line (aptly called the David Gandy For Autograph Beachwear Collection) has been designed as an interchangeable capsule wardrobe for any man who wants to look polished before, during and after sunbathing. It comprises a cotton linen T-shirt and vest, a towelling polo shirt, cotton shorts and trousers, a beach towel and bag, flip flops, canvas shoes and espadrilles, and comes in a range of any combo colours (white, navy, light blue and burgundy, as well as a pattern or two).

That's a rather generous 23 options in total which, we are assured, can create up to 32 possible outfits. Plenty of choice for a week away this summer, we'd say.

And while we certainly can't guarantee that wearing the collection will automatically make you look as buff as the Gandyman (you're going to need a few extra sessions at the gym for that), it's sure as hell going to make you look far more suave on the sand.

Prices from £15 to £29.50. Available this month in selected shops and at marksandspencer.com
