Well I finally got most everything mowed. A wet year with few good mowing days and 2 little ones to distract me... I am mostly caught up for now

Why the work goes so slowly

{{gwi:738572}}

My 'outside the fence' area. Deer protection a must during fall and winter

Pinus contorta (WB888-30)

Abies concolor 'Watezii Prostrata' this years graft

Taylor's Sunburst small graft from last year. Just a little growth this year. Weird looking like that

The Blues - thanks to dcsteg for inspiring getting this one

Pinus sylvestris broom 1 one of 2 brooms in same tree

Pinus sylvestris broom 2

Pinus cembra 'Silver Sheen' - one of a few plants I bought with a little size

Pinus thunbergii 'Shirome Janome'

Abies concolor 'Scooter'

Pinus pumila (unknown) grafted early 09 - from plant listed like that at Bickelhaupt

Pinus cembra 'Matterhorn'

Pinus strobus 'Green Twist'

Pinus strobus 'Greenfield'

Pinus koraiensis 'KG'

Picea engelmanii 'Compacta'

Pinus strobus seedling (2007) from Dax

The misnamed Abies koreana 'Glauca'

Terminal growth and cone

Pinus thunbergii (Baker Street Broom) grafted this winter and now planted out

Pinus heldreichii 'Beran Conica'

Pinus parviflora 'Blue Lou'

PInus cembra 'Blue Mound'

And finally

A seedling from Picea abies "Chillin' Phil" showing three buds at this young age

Love that strobus seedling I sent ya. Mine were planted to a temporary bed and they died. It's good to see one alive.
Three buds on seedling Chillin' Phil - you gotta like that. And your Baker Street comes to life. Cool.
'Weird pine graft' though, lol. Aren't they all weird when grafted - where did I read that :-)

    Have a good one paco.

    Fantastic selection!

Do you have any background information on Pinus contorta (WB888-30)?

I'm also interested in some background information from that broom.

The Picea engelmannii 'Compacta' looks very much the same as the one which Will called Picea sitchensis 'Compacta'.

kb...Great selection of cultivars you have. Looks like Dax had a hand in helping you. A great friend to have.

It appears you live in the heart of Deer country. A permanent fence you will probably always need to prevent browsing.

Keep us posted as you expand your collection.

Picea engelmannii Compacta is surely engelmannii. Keith you could check to see if the shoots have pubesence (hairs) or, if they are glabrous (smooth). If little black hairs, then, definitely engelmannii. Just looking how the needles are positioned around the shoots, appears, engelmann.

I know that the Picea engelmannii 'Compacta' is a true P. engelmannii cultivar.
I wanted to make clear that the photo in the Picea sitchensis topic which Will called Picea sitchensis 'Compacta' is a Picea engelmannii 'Compacta'.
Looking back to my comment, it was not so clear ;0)

Pinus strobus 'Greenfield' I found in Greenfield NH about 2 years ago. That puppy was about 65' high up, right on the very top. Scarey as hell to recover. Looks good.
The conifers look great as well. Nice photo collection.

In case anyone here likes changing foreign names (ha,ha,ha), Pinus heldreichii 'Beran Conica' translates to "Conical Ram" -- as in the animal with curled horns :O)

PS. love the S.v. 'Yellow Dream' !
