Jerry Morris photo gallery (Volume 8)

These are from the Pinus aristata Waldorf grove

Jerry observed that in this grove of bristlecone pines, there were three different forms with three different pollen dates.

The normal forms had a certain pollen date (e.g. male cones releasing pollen, female cones accepting pollen).

Ten to fourteen days afterward, a group of semi-dwarfs had their pollen date.

And ten to fourteen days after that, a third group had their pollen date. These were the full dwarfs.

Nate, I have been there with Jerry many years ago. It is quite a site. Do you know if these trees had any cones this year and where any collected ?

    Dennis,
It looks interesting, and I would really like to get up there. From what I understand, the road is in rough condition.
Not sure about the cones. There are some on P. aristata 'Paiute' - might try to collect a few soon.

These galleries are EPIC Nate - makes my poor little posts cry in envy!

These are really beautiful collectons of historic conifer photos and I for one look forward to each and every one. I'd save every photo if I didn't think you were doing such a good job yourself!

    Hi Nate,
I also like your contributions very much, always!
Some of these are also in my collection.

The 'Carmel' is a Pinus edulis cultivar because it's a 2 needled one.
