Undeniably, This is a dark time for the international cooperation of the space industry as the stability and integrity of world peace are now in question. However, in a desperate moment just like this, a flare of unfortunate wake up call now roam close to space agencies around the world, a call to pursue their own independent capabilities in order to achieve the objective and one day may take these skills out into the global stage and push the specie forward as a whole.  One example is European Space Agency - ESA's continuous chase toward a manned space flight ability and as ESA Director-General: Mr. Josef Aschbacher just announced in his speech - that ESA wants to be able to launch its own astronauts, an ambition that has been sought for decades and if successful, will grant this planet another access to our final horizon. This inspired me to pick up a concept of spacecraft named Hermes, a canceled ESA "mini-shuttle" development program that actually gives me my interest in this mini lifting body type of spacecraft (apart from its big "Space Shuttle" and "Buran" brothers, of course). Shown below is my amateur artist's impression of the fictional "Hermes II" spacecraft named "Unity" which represented an alternate future in which Hermes really become ESA's equivalent of Soyuz or the STS. The shuttle is operating in full-stack configuration (including the cone-shaped "Resource Module") and preparing itself to dock with the ATV-X (Automated Transfer Vehicle - Specialized Block) that acts as an in-orbit depot station. The "Unity" will dock with ATV-X through its dorsal hatch for resupply just before maneuvering into the higher orbit for the satellite service mission. Last but not least, The situation of space exploration is now critically significant more than ever so stay decisive, ESA - and continue humanity's mission in exploring the infinite frontier. In the end, we're all living on the same pale blue dot... #hermesspacecraft #space #future #digitalart #esa #hermes #peace
