One of the world's biggest soccer teams, Barcelona, has agreed to play a friendly match in the United States on December 21 just before the players take their Christmas vacations.
The match will take place in Dallas against an opponent yet to be determined.
The Spanish club had been negotiating this friendly for some time in order to bring in money considering the state of the club's finances.
Match delayed to the winter break
There was talk of this match being played in some of the weeks in which Barcelona did not have a match, but it was an option ruled out by management as it could harm the team after such a long trip.
Barcelona will travel to the United States after the LaLiga match against Almeria.
It remains to be seen whether LaLiga places it on Tuesday, so they would have a day to acclimatize, or they do it on Wednesday although then the team would arrive on a very tight schedule for the match.
Upon returning from the trip, the players would then take a vacation with the next league match played on Wednesday, January 3 against Las Palmas, although it could be moved forward or delayed by one day.
