US actress Courteney Cox confessed that she struggled to realize how "weird" her face looked after numerous cosmetic touch-ups, noting that she looked "unrecognizable".
The 'Friends' star spoke to Sunday Times Style magazine to address the issue of age. Cox is facing the fact that she is not far from 60 and admitted that she initially tried to combat ageing with all sorts of cosmetic treatments, but eventually realized she had gone "crazy" and is now attempting to age gracefully.
"There's no doubt that I'm more grounded, I've learned a lot in my life: what to enjoy, what to try to do more of and what to let go of," Cox told the Sunday Times Style Magazine.
There was a time when you would say, 'Oh, I'm changing. I look older'. And I tried to chase that youth for years. And I didn't realize that, oh, sh*t, I actually look really weird with injections and doing things to my face that I would never do now."
Cox would then highlight the problem of going to doctors to look for fixes to these natural developments.
"What would end up happening is you go to a doctor who says, 'You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or a filler there.' Then you come out and you don't look so bad and you think, 'No one noticed, it's good'," she continued.
"Then someone tells you about another doctor: 'This person is amazing. They make this person look so natural'.
"You meet them and they say, 'You should do this'. Next thing you know, you're layered and layered and layered."
Despite her global superstar status, Cox said her confidence took a hit a few years ago after filming a pilot for a series that was never produced.
"It shook me for a while. I mean, for years, in a weird way, like I was afraid to go back out there," she added.
