Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Tall tree with a round to pyramidal crown, growing up to 30 m tall.
Foliage Dark green to yellowish green, needle-like leaves are bundled in clusters of 3-5 known as fascicles (15-25 cm long, 1.5 mm wide). They are especially dense at the branch tips.
Stems The lower branches are horizontal to drooping, while the upper branches are held upwards at an angle.
Reproductive Parts - non-flowering plant Oblong female cones are initially green, but turn brown at maturity.
Cultivation This species prefers slightly acidic, well drained soils (pH 5-5.5). It is tolerant of salt spray and can be planted near the coast,
