Old town belongs to the world cultural heritage

"Regensburg is beautifully situated. The area had to attract a city" Johann Wolfgang Goethe wrote in 1786. Today's university town has lost none of the charm of bygone times. On the contrary: in 2006, UNESCO included the old town of Regensburg with the Danube island of Stadtamhof in the World Heritage List as an exceptional example of an intact medieval trading town.
