This is an original 1907 sepia photogravure of a piece by Venetian Renaissance artist Vittore Carpaccio (c. 1465-1525), who is best known for his conservative, large-scale detachable wall-paintings, which were not as humanistic in nature as the work of his other Italian contemporaries. In this painting, the body of Christ lays out, awaiting burial.
