The career, obstacles and the journey for Messi during the World Cup run is what inspired this painting. It is my hope that, whoever ends up owning this painting, they find inspiration everyday they look at it, with whatever they are working towards or struggling with. That it serves as a daily dose of motivation for someone looking to excel and be a "champion" in life, their profession, with their loved ones, or whatever drives them daily. The medium and style was chosen as it is the typical style all paintings are constructed. I wanted to ensure the team's colors was the dominant palate emerging from this work. Also an inspiration for this work was, wanting to emulate the image and metaphor of a champion, to help provide inspiration/motivation for someone who see's this portrait, regardless of their profession or life circumstances.
