A VICTORIAN FIGURED WALNUT, MAHOGANY, AND SATINWOOD DAVENPORT DESK, MID-LATE 19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY ENGLISH, the pierced scrolled three-quarter galleried rectangular top on a shaped base opening to an interior fitted for ink and stationary storage, over a shaped inset tooled edge green leather writing surface, lifting to a satinwood veneered interior fitted with an arrangement of three short faux drawers above a central short drawer, flanked by cubby holes, over a wide serpentine frieze, on a surmount with two scrolled foliate carved cabriole legs, flanked at back by two arched pierced foliate cupboard doors, on side opening to a bank of four mahogany drawers with circular turned pulls, on a conforming plinth base, raised on flat bun feet and wood casters. There are some expected surface scratches, dents and general wear. The writing surface has some stains and loss of color. There are some breaks and possible repairs on the pierced carved details. Some cracks appear on the front panel and one side door is locked, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
