‘Variegata’ is variety of Weigela grown for its colourful foliage and flowers. This compact shrub produces variegated leaves which are dark green with a lime green margin. The foliage is complemented with clusters of light pink flowers through spring and summer. The combination of flowers and foliage produces a fantastic and eye-catching display. This deciduous plant typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. ‘Variegata’ is commonly included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, trimmed into a hedge, used in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas.
