June 22 (UPI) -- Glee alum and singer Charice Pempengco has revealed a new name on Twitter, Jake Zyrus, three years after telling Oprah Winfrey that "my soul is male."

"My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy. Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon," the 25-year-old tweeted recently.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love and respect," Zyrus also noted on Instagram. All previous social media posts from the Filipino star have been deleted.

Zyrus, who came out as a lesbian in 2013, is the first Asian solo artist to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album charts with 2010's Charice. The performer appeared on the second season of Glee as Sunshine Corazon, a young singer who had a rivalry with series star Lea Michele.

After being dubbed by Winfrey as "the most talented girl in the world," Zyrus sat down with the television host in 2013 to discuss rumors of a gender transition. "Not exactly transitioning to a male, but basically my soul is like male," Zyrus said at the time.

"I'm not going to go through that stage where I change everything," Zyrus continued. "I'll cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that's all."
