Fagus sylvatica 'Dawyck Gold' is a tall tree with upright growing branches that retains its shape. It originated from a crossing between the cultivars 'Dawyck' and 'Zlatia'. The columnar crown attains a height of 20 - 25 m. Spread is circa 3 m. The oval to ovate leaves are golden yellow in spring. During summer the leaf is light green, turning to golden yellow in autumn, size of leaf 4 - 9 cm. The tree has an inconspicuous inflorescence which is followed by small nuts in autumn. 'Dawyck Gold' is suitable as a solitary. Prefers well-drained soil, rich in humus content. Winter hardiness zone: 5b
