A vigorous grower, often used as a summerhouse tree. It attains a height of 8 - 10 m and it gets a nice weeping look due to its wide arching pendulous branches. The bark is grey brown and regularly, shallowly furrowed. The dark-green compound leaf is odd-pinnate and can become 15 - 20 cm large. When unfolding the leaf is green brown and the autumn colour is yellow. 'Pendula' does not have flowers and fruits and is used as a park tree and solitary in gardens and public gardens.
