Small to medium size tree with densely branched, broad pyramidal crown to about 6 - 8 m. Young twigs are purple, mature bark is green-brown and smooth. The leaves are glossy, dark, olive green with grey-green markings and broad, golden yellow to light yellow margins. The undulate margins have 4 - 7 prickles on each side. The prickles are not regularly spaced. The flowers are fairly inconspicuous. Though female, this cultivar does not usually bear many fruits. Prefers a humic, moist but well-drained soil and tolerates either acidic or calcareous soil. Also suitable for use as a wide hedge.
