Malus 'Royalty' Flowering Crab

Rosaceae

Malus 'Royalty' Flowering Crab

A Canadian selection with a broad-spreading crown. The branches spread out but later bend somewhat so the crown eventually becomes as broad as it is tall. The twigs and bark are hairless and dark brown. The purplish-brown leaves are very dark, making the flowering less remarkable. The purple-red flowers grow in bundles of 4 to 8 together. From late summer many large, spherical, dark red fruits, measuring up to 1.5 cm, appear on the tree. 'Royalty' can be used in parks, public gardens and gardens and stands up well to understory. Allowing a solitary planted shrub to grow into a multi-trunked tree can produce an attractive effect. The tree grows best in nutritious, not too dry soil. 'Royalty' is one of the prettiest dark-leaved ornamental apples trees but is unfortunately sensitive to scab.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2024.
