It was in the small town of Jura, France, that the founder Louis Vuitton left his home at the age of 14 on foot and embarked upon the journey that led him to design the bespoke trunk synonymous to the luxury brand. Years later when his son Georges inherited the famed luggage trunk business, he garnered the famous logo–the ‘V’ overlapping the ‘L’ patented in gold over brown on the travel bags. What began as a vision embodied by the traditional luggage trunks of the French maison has now witnessed renditions in luxe collectibles such as the Speedy, Alma and Neverfull, to name a few.

Helmed by the legacy of its distinct monogram, each Louis Vuitton bag shares a cult status amongst style connoisseurs. From Audrey Hepburn to Jackie O, the classic accessory has been celebrated for its timeless elegance and remained a coveted asset to the fashion-forward figures. Over the years the hallmarked handbags have not only maintained their ubiquitous status but also trended season after season as renewed it-bags. Case in point, remember Marc Jacobs’ version of the classic Vernis? Or when he branded the bags with ‘Louis’ and ‘Vuitton’? Whether it's the duffle or a tote or a slim clutch, chances are, there is a trending new version of the classic ever-present in the market. Rooted in history, high design and fashion memorabilia, these iconic bags capture the classic value of luxury.

Here is the Vogue round up of the most iconic Louis Vuitton bags of all time:
