Until 1953, the E 69 series locomotives were operated exclusively on their regular route from Murnau to Oberammergau. After conversion for operation with the Deutsche Bahn's standard busbar system, the E 69 03 also ran in Rosenheim and Heidelberg. However, it has been based in Garmisch since 1964. In 1968 it was given the number 169 003. Even after it was taken out of service in 1982, it remained in the Garmish Locomotive Shed as a museum piece. Locomotives feature a diecast metal chassis, directional lighting and NEM couplers.
