This year’s Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor Holiday Pops Concert on Dec. 9, Saturday, at Abbot Hall, is even more special than usual. The concert is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This year’s event is being held in honor of Fraffie Welch, the originator of the concert, in partnership with Jodi Vigneron. The concert also marks the 20th anniversary of the Dirk Hillyer Festival Orchestra.

The featured soprano for the evening is Charlotte Jackson. She is currently receiving her professional studies certificate at Boston Conservatory after finishing her Master of Music at Boston Conservatory this past spring. She spent this fall performing recitals in Boston and performing with Guerrilla Opera as the Captain of the Guard in their world premiere of Andy Vores’ "Chrononhotonthologos." Jackson spent spring of 2017 performing the role of Anna Reich in Nicolai’s "Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor." An avid traveler and a fluent French speaker, she was awarded the MAYO grant for her voice studies in Paris. While in Paris, she studied contemporary French art song while developing her thesis on opera divas of 19th century Paris.

The Holiday Pops Concert begins with a dessert reception at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 pm. Floor tickets are available online at rcomh.org. Balcony tickets are $35 each; floor seats are $60 each. Proceeds from the Holiday Pops will benefit the scholarships, programs and philanthropic activities of the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor.
