Persian Parrotia is a beautiful tree with a symmetrical canopy and wonderful bark. The canopy forms a tight oval desired by many people for yards and streets. It should be grown in full sun or partial shade on well-drained, slightly acid soil but will adapt to alkaline soil provided other cultural requirements are met. Trees will not tolerate wet soil conditions, but should show considerable drought tolerance once established. Appears to adapt to urban sites very well including parking lot islands and tree lawns. Fall color varies greatly but new selections are coming with consistent color.
