Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ review

Design, build quality, handling

Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ is an incredibly good-looking smartphone that is easy to like. The phone has slightly curved front and rear panels that end into a thin, shiny frame. The screen shield is made by Corning, Gorilla Glass 5, to be specific, while the plastic back panel on the green model is covered with vegan leather with faux stitches around the camera housing.

There are three more colorways in existence - black, orange, and blue - which have plastic backs with matte finish and unique textures around the camera islands.

The Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ is IP53-rated for dust and splash resistance.

Naturally, the 6.78-inch AMOLED screen occupies the entire front. It has nice thin and even bezels, and its small punch-hole is not that of an eyesore. Even better, Tecno came up with cool Apple-like animations that mimic and expand the functionality of Dynamic Island. There are no visible sensors in the top frame. Everything is tucked away nicely or underneath the display itself. In case you were wondering, there is no notification LED.

There is an under-screen fingerprint sensor, which is as fast and reliable as the majority of those nowadays.

The Tecno Spark 20 Pro+'s leather back is nice to both look and touch. It has this enormous round camera island which has the 108MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, an auxiliary lens of unknown purpose and a sealed fourth hole.

There is a 4-LED flash next to the camera housing.

We cannot but think of this pompous design as completely unnecessary and fake. We think the Spark 20 Pro+ could have looked even better with one flush or barely jutting-out camera instead of this empty gargantuan. But that is just us.

Tecno Spark 20 Pro+

The thin and glossy frame of the Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ provides no grip whatsoever. Worse, it makes it almost impossible to pick up the Spark when lying on a table. But the back panel offers enough texture to make the phone feel safe in your hand once you start operating it.

The provided case in the bundle will solve those issues, but it will take away the cool profile.

Overall, the Spark 20 Pro+ is a well-built smartphone with no noticeable flex or hollowness and a beautiful design; we like it very much, even with that odd camera housing. And it is quite a lightweight device - just 179 grams.
