The Striated Pardalote (Pardalotus striatus) is endemic to Australia and the most common of the pardalote species, although less common in some arid areas. With such numerous populations, there are a number of subspecies, with some being migratory, whilst others remain in the same area throughout the year.

There is considerable variation in plumage characteristics across the range of this species. The Striated Pardalote have white eyebrows with a yellow spot in front of the eye, with olive-grey backs and a white stripe in the wing. In different locations across Australia, the wing stripe may be narrow or wide, whilst the coloured spot at the front end of this stripe can be red or yellow, whilst the black crown of the bird may have or lack the fine white stripes. Both the male and female of the species are similar in plumage, and whilst the young birds resemble the adult birds, they are notably paler, in particular on the crown and face.
