August 30, 2023 - Pileated Parrot (Pionopsitta pileata)

These parrots are found in the humid forests of southeastern Brazil, southern Paraguay, and the northeastern tip of Argentina. Their diet is not well studied but may include fruits, seeds, and eucalyptus bark. Probably breeding in November, they nest in tree cavities where females incubate clutches of two eggs.
