Anas platyrhynchos platyrhynchos (Linnaeus, 1758) – most of Palearctic and Nearctic; winter populations reach Africa (Nile Valley), SouthEastern Asia (Indus Valley to SouthEastern China), Mexico and Cuba. Anas platyrhynchos conboschas (C. L. Brehm, 1831) – SouthWestern & SouthEastern Greenland coast (on West coast, North to Upernavik). Introduced to South Africa, Mauritius, Australia and New Zealand, among others.
