Description
The point-tailed palmcreeper (Berlepschia rikeri) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae, the ovenbirds. It is monotypic, the only member of the genus Berlepschia. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forest. This is a deep chestnut-brown backed bird, with neck collar colorings of black and white flecking; the entire belly has the same black and white mottling. It has a medium to long, stout pointed bill. The species is named for the two ornithologists-bird collectors who first described the species, Count Hans von Berlepsch and C. Riker.

Feeding Habits
Point-tailed Palmcreeper primarily consumes arthropods like beetles, true bugs, ants, and spiders. Point-tailed Palmcreeper forages acrobatically in pairs from canopy to mid-story, gleaning food from palm fronds, often hanging upside-down and using the tail as a brace.
Habitat
The point-tailed Palmcreeper typically inhabits palm forests and swamps, characterized by a dense prevalence of Mauritia palms, such as M. vinifera and M. flexuosa. Occasionally, it also occupies areas with other palm species like Orbignya martiana. These habitats are usually situated within the ecological contexts of evergreen forests or savanna landscapes.
