How i get closed shooting birds. even with 600mm lens, it's nice if you can get near the birds. 5 meters should be good enough. Also if they are looking for food or hungry or eating. They wont get spooked if i am exposed and near them :) Thou most of the time, they will only give maybe 3 seconds and fly away.
