The Striated Pardalote is a small inhabitant of forests and woodland across Australia. Also see the related Spotted Pardalote; vimeo.com/143102047, which is tends to replace this species in taller wetter forest.
Pardalotes feed by gleaning insects off leaves in the tree canopy. Its distinctive call travels through the woodland and as a result is more often heard rather than seen. Here we see interactions between a pair of birds, high up in a big gum tree, filmed in Mulligan's Flat nature reserve mulligansflat.org.au/ on the northern outskirts of Canberra, Australia.
