Mountain Wheatear
Sometimes called Mountain Chat, this highly variable species is endemic to Southern Africa and Angola. They were fairly common on our trip to Namibia. On range this is the smaller subspecies "M. m. atmorii." I personally got confused by these birds more than once. They are polymorphic with males having both black and gray morphs and considerable variation within each morph. I believe this is a female which lacks the white wing coverts of the male. Females are mostly dark brownish-black with white vent and undertail coverts. Previously included with other wheatears in the genus "Oenanthe."
