Three-toed Woodpecker(Picoides tridactylus) is distinctive black and white woodpecker with two large white bars on its face. Males have a yellow crown and no red plumage elements.

Population : 6,000,000-14,999,999 individuals

Habitat: found in old coniferous and mixed forests, especially with spruces and with lots of dead trees, often stripping bark.

Diet: Larvae and pupae of beetles living beneath bark form bulk of diet.
