George Szell’s Complete Columbia recordings (106 CDs) is a great investment for any serious classical music fan! You get all nine Beethoven Symphonies; the 4 Brahms Symphonies; 4 Schumann Symphonies; Schubert 8 and 9; Mozart 28, 33, 35, 36, 38-41; Dvorak 7, 8, 9 All in stereo with the Cleveland Orchestra; Beethoven’s 5 Piano Concertos with Leon Fleisher; a number of Mozart’s later piano concertos with Rudolf Serkin, Leon Fleisher and Robert Casadesus; Dvorak’s complete Slavonic Dances; Rossini Overtures; Wagner Overtures, Preludes and “Ring” interludes; and a number of 1940s Szell/New York Philharmonic recordings. The remasterings are excellent, even a big improvement on the Sony Essential Classics single CD releases of the early 1990s, which were certainly very good. Highest recommendation! Read full review

This is perhaps the best of the big Sony box sets - the performances are brilliant, the band is tops and the remastered sound is fantastic. 106 discs of musical joy.
