Identification & Behavior: ~14 cm (5.5 in). The Ringed Antpipit has olive-gray upperparts. The throat and breast are white broad black streaks projecting to the rest of the underparts. It forages on the ground. The plumage pattern is unique, but see the Spot-backed Antbird and Dot-backed Antbird.

Status: The Ringed Antpipit is uncommon and widespread in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 1000 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Coritopis Anillado.

Sub-species: Ringed Antpipit (Corythopis torquatus sarayacuensis), C. Chubb, 1918.  Amazon Basin in SE Colombia, E Ecuador and NE Peru.

Meaning of Name: Corythopis: Gr. koruthon, koruthonos= lark ops, opos= appearance. torquatus: L. torques= collar, necklace, and torquatus= collared.
