The oasis hummingbird (Rhodopis vesper) is found in coastal regions of Peru in a 100–200 km wide strip along the length of Peru's coastline. Another population (sub-species Rhodopis vesper atacamensis, known as “Colibrí de Atacama” o “Picaflor del norte”) is found in a 75 by 200 km coastal strip in the Atacama region of Chile.
